30,500 yen (Inc. 500 yen for the competition regulations booklet)
The application fee should be transferred to the bank account specified herein by December 20, 2007. (The applicant must pay the bank handling charge.) This fee is non-refundable even when any applicant withdraws from this competition.

Preliminary (audition of recorded performance)

 

Play both 1 and 2 as specified below.

  1. Choose one of the pieces listed below:
      • Chopin: Étude op. 10 (Except No. 3. 6. 9)
      • Chopin: Étude op. 25 (Except No. 1. 2. 7)
  2. Choose one of the first movements listed below:
    First movement of a sonata composed by J. Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven

Note) As for 2, the piece must be in sonata form.

Play one or some of the pieces specified below. Total performance duration must exceed 15 min. and must not exceed 25 min.

  1. Piece composed by Schubert, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Franck or Brahms
    (Except the piece performed in the Preliminary)

Notes)
a) Any extract form a sonata, variation or suite is not allowed to play.
b) Performance order of the pieces is to be determined by the applicant.
c) The duration rule mentioned above must be followed strictly.
d) The program listed on the application form may be altered by December 31, 2007. In this case, the applicant must inform the secretariat of his/her change by a letter, fax or e-mail.

Semifinal

 

Play 1, 2 and 3 specified below. Total performance duration must exceed 50 min. and must not exceed 60 min.

  1. All movements of a sonata composed by J. Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven
    (Except the piece performed in the Preliminary)
  2. Any piece composed by Fauré, Debussy or Ravel (Except an étude)
  3. Any piece(s) you choose, whose score has been published (Except the piece performed in the Elimination)
    Do not select any piece which requires touching piano strings.
